Inarc Design Hong Kong Limited won an international design competition for the project and the scope of service included approximately 14,000 square metres of corporate interiors in a new 30 level tower building and 5,000 square metres of public space including a 500 seat auditorium within a 4 level podium. The Insular Life Assurance Company, Limited was founded in 1910 and is the first and largest Filipino life insurance organisation in the Philippines. Due to escalating property values and increasing traffic congestion in Manila, the largest city in the Philippines, the Client decided to relocate their headquarters from the central district of Makati to a new development in Alabang on the outskirts of Manila.
The design concept for connecting all levels of the podium was to define the space as a representation of the archipelago of the Philippines. Hence, water provides the backdrop or canvas for the space and ‘peninsulas’ and ‘bridges’ link all the various ‘island’ masses. In total, 15 major sculptural items were created and themed by Filipino artists for the podium.
Accommodation requirements for the corporate office included all departments, cafeteria, executive offices, boardroom, and a chapel. The unusual geometry of the triangular tower building was reinforced into the shapes of the executive offices, corner offices and the reflected ceilings.
At the International Property Awards 2013-2014_Asia Pacific Summit held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 10 May 2013, Inarc Design Hong Kong Limited won the Best Office Interior Award (5-Star)_Philippines for this project.
