Inarc Design Hong Kong Limited was commissioned to provide the Interiors for the new Owners with Starter Box renovation project on the 3/F Grandstand 1 of Shatin Racecourse with a total area of approximately 2,600 sm and providing over 300 seats for dining guests in three different interior environments.
The operational challenge of the Client’s Brief was to efficiently plan this new venue with all its diverse requirements with not only the front of house requirements of a 300 seats restaurant and bar but also to incorporate high technology betting facilities required for horse racing in Hong Kong.
The challenge for the Interiors was then to create around these diverse operational requirements, a unique interior environment for the occupants that would enhance the excitement and celebratory moods that accompany horse Owners on their special day at the races. Accordingly, the colour accents selected to reinforce this atmosphere are ‘reds’ and ‘gold’ as these colours are generally associated with excitement, luck and money in Hong Kong while the ‘bubbles’ associated with the celebratory toasting with champagne are echoed as curvilinear shapes in several feature elements of the design including the hollow ‘donut’ shaped pendant lights, the curved corners of the coffered ceilings, the curved translucent patterned glass at the entries to the private dining rooms as well as the stone patterns on the floor and the custom designed two-toned turned timber sculptural balls displayed in the buffet area.
At the International Property Awards 2013-2014_Asia Pacific Summit held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 10 May 2013, Inarc Design Hong Kong Limited won both the Best Leisure Interior Award (5-Star)_Hong Kong and the Best Leisure Interior Award_Asia Pacific for this project. At the finals of the International Property Awards 2013-2014 held in London, United Kingdom on 6 December 2013, Inarc Design Hong Kong Limited further won the World’s Best International Leisure Interior Award for this project.
