Completion | September 2009 |
Inarc Design Hong Kong Limited was commissioned to provide the Interiors for a 5,500sm renovation of the top floor of Grandstand I Shatin Racecourse, including extensive open and private dining areas, buffet counters, a bar, wine cellar, betting counters, toilets and extensive support kitchens.
A modern design solution has been created for experiencing daytime racing by opening up large expanses of glass walls thereby allowing natural day light to penetrate into the dining and betting areas from both the Racecourse side and the Parade Ring side of the Grandstand. The floors for the foyers and betting areas were clad in quality Italian and Chinese marbles while the Betting Counters themselves were clad in an exotic, green onyx stone from the Middle East; the dining area floors were clad in customed design carpets; the walls were clad in both figured makore and sapelle timbers while sculptural glass and mirrored walls were located behind the buffet counters; backdrop walls for the racecourse history photographs were clad in bronze coloured bonded-metal; and special curved ceilings were clad in acoustic timber panels. The renovation works were completed in September 2009 and officially opened by the Chief Executive of Hong Kong (SAR), Mr. Donald Tsang.
